Fog on Blue Ridge Mountains
It’s downright cold outside, as Old Man Winter has settled in! I do believe I see the sun trying to make its presence known and a flake or two of snow but I don’t believe there is any need for the panic of bread and milk, just a reminder to bundle up!!
Lexington, VA is gearing up for a very large weekend as Washington & Lee University will host the 26th Mock Convention. This year, the Mock Convention’s task will be to choose the Republican candidate in the upcoming Presidential election. Believe me, there is much more involved, so click the link above for more detailed information on this exciting event. The kickoff to the weekend will be the parade, where each state is represented by a group of students as they travel down Main Street Lexington, VA. Growing up here in Lexington, VA I have witnessed a few of these parades as well as being fortunate to be able to listen to some great political figures of my time. I do believe the students have picked correctly 19 of the past 25 elections.
In neighboring Buena Vista, VA, the SVU Theater will be showcasing The Secret Garden from February 12th 20th. Another enchanting activity to keep you out of the cold.
Of course Sunday is Valentine’s Day and I see that a lot of the local restaurants are offering specials as well as the Rockbridge Vineyard’s unveiling of their new tasting room as well as live music from 2-5 on Sunday afternoon.
