James F Brown, Broker

jim_lgJim founded J.F. Brown Real Estate in 2004 after 20 years of gaining valuable experience working in the real estate profession. He strives to help people reach their real estate goals and is guided by his strong affection for the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding mountains. With Shenandoah Valley family roots continuously stretching back well over 200 years, Jim is deeply committed to preserving the regions’ quality of life. He has an extensive knowledge of the area, its land, inhabitants, and history. He maintains a commitment to providing personal attention, quality service, and high standards to those he works with. His respect and love for the land is a constant ethic in his practice of real estate. In fact, the Valley Conservation Council recognized him as “Valley Conservator” for 2004.

Focusing on farms, homes, historic properties, and large parcels of the regions’ pastoral landscape, Jim is responsible for tens of thousands of acres of property transactions. He was one of the first Realtors west of the Blue Ridge in Virginia to earn the Accredited Buyer Representative designation and to complete the National Trust for Historic Preservation Real Estate Program. He has long tailored his brokerage to the needs of his clients- whether they seek to find and purchase property or they want to market and sell their real estate. Jim and his wife, Toni, live near Lexington on farmland originally owned by his family in 1805. The farm has been protected with a Conservation Easement. In addition to the love of the outdoors, Jim is an avid photographer and musician, playing the guitar and dobro in numerous groups.
