Lexington, Virginia’s Fourth of July Celebration

It may be mid-week, but it’s also the first of July!! Summer is in full swing and Lexington, VA is gearing up for the Fourth of July festivities in town.

Before we get to the fireworks, we should start the weekend of by noting it’s the first weekend in the month, hence First Friday’s in town with the local art galleries participating in the Gallery Walk, so come on to downtown Lexington, VA and take a stroll to view the lovely artwork. You might then want to head on over to Lime Kiln Theater to check out the sounds of Gary Ruley & Mule Train. Should be a great night of music!

Some of the Fourth of July Celebrations start as early as tomorrow, such as the Sunrise Rotary Club’s Balloon Rally, which will go Thursday until Sunday. This is the 19th year that the balloons have been flying high here in Lexington and Rockbridge County, VA. If you have not been it’s a site to see of beautiful colors and designs. Activities take place at VMI on the parade grounds. Schedule of Events.

On Saturday, come on to the old courthouse steps in downtown Lexington, VA at 9:30 a.m. to hear the reading of the Declaration of Independence. Go ahead and stay downtown because at 11:00 the Children’s Bike parade will be coming down Main Street Lexington, VA.

Fireworks are scheduled for Saturday night at the VMI Parade Grounds!
